what interface settings to use for 100 mg internet 1

I have 100mg ethernet internet service. My router to this service via a 10/100/1000 mg electrical interface.
Should I use 100mg or 1000mg interface settings? Does it make any difference?
Are there any general rules related to bw to interface settings, other than the 10/100/1000?

if its a gig interface to gig interface, leave it on auto / auto .

if its a gig interface to 100mb interface then you have to hardcode most likely.


most of the time leave it alone.
if you have multiple interfaces to the outside world it wouldn't hurt defining the bandwidth command on them for your dynamic routing protocols..
