Is there any version of Software. or option enabled, as well as trunk card or other hardware required to setup a CAMA type trunk on either a SX-2000 or 3300?

What is a CAMA trunk? I've worked on a lot of systems and never heard of this one.

30 years and it's still true.....NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

CAMA is a type of emergency trunk.

To my knowledge the 3300 and SX2k does not support it, as emergency dialing is supported via ISDN by both PSAPs and the Mitel gear.

The console is also used as an Alarm Set when E911 is engaged, allowing Mitel avoid having to design the system to support CAMA.

FYI the CAMA would be support from a ASR perspective, but not at the line level as the PBX (or IP-PBX) would not provide the information PSAP (911) is looking for.

Is a CAMA trunk used between CO's and the PSAP?

30 years and it's still true.....NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

CAMA is a 30-yr old term meaning "Centralized Automated Message Accounting"

In olden times it was a toll trunk

In more modern times it is commonly associated with 911 emergency services between a business with a PBX and the Public Safety Answer Point (PSAP) at the other end.

Some 3rd party 911 systems, i.e., "Proctor & Associates" and "Xtend" use CAMA trunks in this manner.

However, in most areas a dedicated CAMA trunk is no longer necessary, provided you have PRI/ISDN trunks.

So Mitel doesn't support CAMA, did they ever? DO they support it on any other of their products, like the SX-200, SX-50 etc?

Reason is that CAMA seems to support more calling info then T1 Qsig.

thanks,
