What happens to VM messages when they can not be emailed 3

I'm having a situation today with the IT vendor that their network is down and I didn't think about this but so many of the users are using voicemail to email I am getting SMTP failure notices as an event and it says it will try in 900,000 milliseconds.

What happens if there is an extended outage where a voicemail message cannot be sent as an email or there's a rejection on the email address etc?

Does r message eventually end up sent to the users mailbox and the message waiting light lights up?

Depends on if you have embedded or voicemail pro. If you have embedded once one message fails it starts queue'ing messages and does not stop till the system is rebooted. After you reboot it does not send the previous messages but will start sending any new messages. If you have voicemail pro it should eventually (in my experience) send the emails once the connection issue is resolved.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Also depends on if you use forward or copy for the email option. Forward you will lose the message, copy will keep a copy on the phone.

Mike, thank you very much. That's kind of unfortunate that they would not have constructed a failsafe considering that an internet failure for extended periods of time is a regular occurring event over the course of a year with some customers.

You think that if it failed after X number of tries or a selectable number of tries in the parameter that it would just dump the message in the user's mailbox maybe with a header tagged message that said "this could not be delivered by email due to finite, etc. to retry press 1"
