What happens if I change the time on a monitores system?

I've had the question posed to me regarding MOM, but I'm not a MOM expert...

What will happen to the alerts/info coming from a monitored server if the time on that machine is changed. I don't quite understand why, but apparently it is something this person does a lot for testing.

My expectation is that the agent will report based on the "local" time, but I can't even begin to guess what the management server will make of that...

the MS won't care per se, but be aware that it will affect anyone supporting that server, as alerts will come into the operator console with the wrong date/time stamp..
