I was watching a "movie" clip I downloaded from Bearshare on my WinAmp player. While I was watching the movie I noticed that the sound was very distorted and the movie sounded as if it had been "screwed", slowed down very very slow. I wiggled the cord to the speaker at the back of the pc. That seemed to fix the problem for a llittle bit. Now I dont have any sound at all. I tried to play my music files in WinAmp and they wonr play. I moved the buffer and nothing happened. The only thing that I can come up with is that the movie I was watching was corrupted. Any advice??

Yep, seems like your video file was corrupted and now your "audio" is out of whack. Could it be that your music files are still playing (no error message), but that you just can't hear them?

And what if you play another video file that you know worked before? Does it display a picture with no sound?

It could be something simple like a loose connection or the speaker jack is plugged into the wrong output. But to be sure it's not the speakers, try them on another audio source or PC. Make sure they weren't damaged. Open up your volume control properties in Windows as well and make sure nothing is muted.

myt music files arent playing. if i play a video file it only shows the first frame and thats it. its like the movie is paused as soon as it starts. i cant hear any sounds what so ever from any program. there isnt anything wrong with my speakers, i know that for sure. there is some other weird thing happening on my pc too. sometimes when i sign into my on-line college site, IE automatically closes. im going to restart my pc and see if it fixes the sound problem.
