i got my first job 2 weeks ago as a Network administrator, i'm really excited-scared. my boss asked me to backup the PDC (my predecessor never did) but i don't know which files should i backup or where to find them
thanks

I backup my entire system on my DC's weekly. Be sure you check the box for the System State as well as that will get all of your AD information that you'd need.

so basically i need to backup the entire C:> drive?
and the system state as well?

Yes, of course. It's the only way possible to even attempt a recovery of the system.

Good luck with the new job. Check on the PDC and see if you have any 3rd-party backup software installed on there. If there isn't, it's NTbackup for you. There's forums here covering backups and all that stuff, people here are very friendly and helpful. If you've got an Exchange server, you really need to think about backing that up as well. If you have good backups, you'll feel more confident doing everything else on your network, so make sure you get on top of them!
