I tried fat16 and ntfs but it wont let me mount....
[root@localhost root]# mount /dev/hda4 /test
mount: error while guessing filesystem type
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
In /etc/fstab I have
/dev/hda4 /test fat defaults 0 0
It doesn't contain a file system itself, as such, you can't mount it. It is just a way to let your harddrive have more than 4 partitions. You should have partitions with file systems on them "inside" of that extended partition (look for partition numbers larger than 4).
