When I click on a shortcut for an Excel file, I get an error that it cannot find one of it's components. It happens with ALL of my Excel shortcuts. Any explanation would be helpful.
This is not a common problem , but I have seen it even with other MS office stuff . The best and quickest way I've found to fix these is to Right click on the shortcut then click on the properties button. This will give you another error saying that it couldn't find the target, but the general properties windows should come up . On the lower right there is another button that says find target. If for some reason it can't find it it'll let you browse through your computer until you do find the target. Just click or double click on the correct file name and i'll repair the shortcut for you.
If all your shortcuts are doing it, it almost sounds like your Office installation is damaged and needs to be re-installed. If you can start Excel and create new files okay, create shortcuts to the new files and run them okay, then you will need to repair the shortcuts one by one as lazer1 suggested.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

May be I'm stupid, but the filename has " " at start and at end?
