I'm thinking that integration manager will work great for our company, but I'm wondering what technical/programming expertise is required, or what the training involves to learn how to use it. Is this the same as VB modifier and would we need both or does one not have anything to do with the other one?

We have alot of information in spreadsheets and other sources that would save us alot of work if we could somehow import it into Great Plains.

Thanks!

Integration Manager is relatively easy to use for basic integrations. It's doesn't really have anything to do with Modifier with VBA. However, for more complex use of IM you can use VB script to transform data or do other things.

You can start basic and then move up. Master record information is the easiest to start with. Also, IM does come with some sample integrations that are great for examples. When I first started using IM, I just tried to copy what the samples did even though I didn't get why. :) Of course now I get why. :)
