What effect is this?

I was wondering what this effect is called in the flash circle?

The stage starts out with static image/images in the bg.

Then there is a cascading tiling effect that sweeps across the page and covers it with little squares. Then from the same position the squares started from in the first sequence, they shrink up to nothing once again in a cascading fashion until the bg is once again exposed.

It kind of gives them a flipping effect but not really.
