In Device manager (Win 98) I have a yellow question mark over "other devices" and below this I have the message "PCI System Management Bus" When clicking properties I am informed the drivers are not loaded for this device (Code 28). The PC is a Dell Optiplex GX100 and I can't find anything on the Dell website that contains this device driver. Can anyone advise me where to get the driver, or at least what category it comes under i.e. Bios, sytem files etc. This problem has existed for a long time with this PC, but does not seem to affect anything, but now I am trying to install a PCI sound card and Win98 does not see the card at all, also when installing the cards drivers, the SW for this card will not run as it cannot find the card.

Gratefull for any help

Regards

Robert

The problem may be with the Intel PXII chipset and the lack of the .inf files for the particular chip used.

There is a downloadable utility at Intel that will identify the chipset and another utility that will put the .inf files out on the system so the correct drivers can be loaded on a rebuild.

This was a problem with CDROMs disappearing with SE, so may not be associated with your problem. But worth a shot.
