What does this formula mean?

Someone helped with this formula{@PE} = "" and I am not sure what it does or mean but it give me what I wanted it. This formula is in the detail section>suppress> x+2.

Any idea?
 
It means that if your existing @PE formula returns a blank, then it will suppress that section.

You'd have to post what's in @PE for further analysis...
