I am seeing numerous alerts in our network monitoring tool (NetCool) of the following nature:

Summary : Link Down 10101 GigabitEthernet1/0/1 6 down

After a short period, these alerts are cleared and the following alerts show up:

Summary : Link Up 10101 GigabitEthernet1/0/1 6 up

Can someone please help me understand what the "6" means in the GigabitEthernet1/0/1 6 ?

Thank you in advance!

That is probably supposed to read GigabitEthernet1/0/16. So it would be port 16 of the switch.

Get on the switch and do a "show log" and see which interface went down at that time to confirm.
