Yet another password question ... what is the Operator password good for?

We have an Operator mailbox that belongs to a real person who has voice mail defined (meaning that if you ring that extension internally, you get that person's voicemail).

Because they are the Operator, their extension will also ring when an incoming caller presses 0.

So what does the Operator password let them do that their regular password does not? Is there a reason to use the Operator password instead of the Sys Coordinator password to handle some functions?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

The operator pswd is where you set up for the Business to be open and the lines to be answered. If you do a Feature 982 then spell out operator, You will see Adtd avail which should be Y Business open Y Answer lines should be Y
Then ADTD: which should be the main attendant.

Hope this helps

Norstargirl,

Thanks. If this is all that the OPERATOR password does, then I am OK with leaving it as the default. I'm still not sure how to change it away from the default, but it doesn't appear to be a high-security issue.
