What Does Riparam Do? 1

I am running Crystal Reports V8.5 on a Windows XP Professional Box. I am trying to modify a report that was created by another programmer. He utilizes a function called RIPARAM. I do not know this function. The code is "Trim(RIPARAM("LongAnswer00"))" Quotes not included. I also can not locate the variable LongAnswer00.

Please let me know what RIPARAM does, and where I can find documentation on it.

From what I've read, RIPARAM is an R&R Report Writer function. From

An enhanced parameter-passing mechanism using the RIPARAM() function allows users to enter information on a form in their Web browser and control report features such as sorting, grouping, querying, master table and related table definitions etc

So, either someone created a UFL (User Function Library) that tried to do the same thing, or it was wishful thinking on their part.
