What does "?" mean next to the Team NIC's name

Hi All,
We've got a number of Wintel servers with Compaq Teamed NIC's but there is one pair, Win2k MSC with a "?" in front the name instead of the usual numbers 1,2,3.... . Has anyone seen this before and knows what it means?

Yes I did,

It happens when you rename the Network Connction.

Is there any way to get it back to the numbers? Does it matter? I never knew what the ? meant, even the Compaq support tech I asked when I was having networking problems didn't know.
