I am using Windows XP and when I try to open explorer I get this message:

Buffer overrun detected!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

A buffer ovverrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

What does this mean and how can I fix it?

You got virus protection on your PC?

(And also this message should really be in the windows XP forum, this is a programming forum)

Hmm got no idea, sounded like youve got a virus but perhaps not.

Try searching google for ad-aware by lavasoft. Incase youve got any hidden software installed in your PC. could be that too.
