Hi Guys

Stupid questions I know.

I am looking a buying an 11C ( I am more familiar with older systems) Its a one cabinet with NTDK20, Pri, MM and some extension cards. A label says its 23.somthing.

I am accustom to seeing a software module is the versions different?

Could I please get a basic overview?

Ta

Mike

The NTDK20 is the CPU-card or System Core in Nortel-terminology.
On it you find the CPU and other CPU-stuff you would suspect, like BIOS, ROM, RAM, and a Daughterboard with Flash-RAM.
It also holds the security dongle, Conference bridge, Call registry etc. and it controls the different databusses on the backplane, that is the communication between the different cards in the system.
On the front of the card are two PCMCIA-slots, one for software-upgrade/upload and one for backup of system data.
A row of DIP-switches that is used to set the com-speed on TTY-0.
Finaly the card can be equiped with fiber daughterboards used to expand the system with extra cabinets.

Hope this helps.
Feel free to correct me if I guffed up on something here ;-)
Or add more info...

Ps. If this is a used system, be sure to get the security-dongle and the software-licence (labeled: Option 11C Keycode Sheet) that goes with it.
and also passwords for both the system and the MM.

Hi,

Geirendre is right. If you buy a 2nh hand system always make sure you have all the passwords and keycode sheets (PABX and MMail)

Also check that the dongle is on the card. When you look at the card with the faceplate in your left hand it's on the top left, it looks like a battery but it isn't.

Also check that the software daughterboard is present. That's on the top right.

If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed... Oh wait, he does...

Also make sure that you get the RTU (Rights to use) paperwork if you think that you will ever go to NORTEL for any reason.
