What does Messaging mean? 1

I'm and IT guy who has all the telecom duties as well so I "stumble" through most of this stuff.
So my quistion is; in a vector what does Messaging mean?, as in Messaging Spit 1 for extension XXXX

messaging is voicemail. Messaging Split 1 for extension XXXX is sending the call to the audix hunt group (assuming it's 1) and into mailbox xxxx.
