Hi,

When I typed in this command from my Dos prompt:

telnet mail.parcsonline.us 25

I got this message back:

C:\>telnet mail.parcsonline.us 25
Connecting To mail.parcsonline.us...Could not open a connection to host on port 25
: Connect failed

What does this message mean? is it something on my computer that prevent me from connecting to this mail server? or is it from the remote mail server that does not let me connect.

Thanks,

Kevin

It means somewhere there is something that's not allowing port 25 traffic. I can get to it fine (which reminds me - don't post actuall server/domain names!

Hi Pat,

Is it at my end or is it at the host? since you can get to it then I assume it got to be from my computer???

Thanks,

Kevin

Well, not knowing your environment. I would say it's somewhere between the seat your sitting in, and the Internet connection going to the server.

It might be on your local machine. It could be a router between you and the server. It could be firewall issues, etc.

What happens if you try the servers' internal IP address over port 25?

Hi Pat,

I got the same error message when I tried my internal ip address over port 25.

Thanks,

As I mentioned, it's hard to say without knowing more about your environment. I'd say it's likely some firewall (hardware or software) that's blocking the access.
