Hi HTML experts,

I am experimenting with a few of the fonts found in MS Word... Brittanica, Poor Richard etc

I would like to use some of these on my web site... but

what will the viewer see if they don't have that font installed on their PC?

And can I specify a Default font that will be used if the
other font isn't found?

Or should I just stay with the basic fonts to be safe?

Thanks for your opinions. John

I'd stay with the basic fonts, but if you wanna use the cool new fonts, then you have to get one installed in the users PC...there are small apps that asks the user's permission then instal the fonts... I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Hi mate,

You could specify these fonts in a stylesheet but just add a few web safe fonts to the end of the list.

If the user has none of the fonts that you specify, then the default system font is used based on the browser.

Another way would be to embed the font on the webspace, check out Cian's FAQ - faq215-1525

Hope this helps Wullie
