I'm looking at a perl script and I see a test for '$^0', what does that mean? Sorry for asking such searchable question, but google doesn't like special characters... so I can't search for it.

Are you sure that is dollar+caret+zero and not dollar+caret+uppercase_o ? The later contains the operating system's name. ( See [tt]$^O[/tt] in [tt]man perlvar[/tt] for details. )

If you are sure it contains 0 not O, then please post some related context from that script.

Feherke.
