We currently use a portable CD player as our Music-on-Hold device, but are thinking of moving to something that lasts longer than this type of device. Typically, we get 1-2 years out of one of these. Runs 24/7.

Do any of you use a component-style CD player? Single Disk? Carousel? We're also considering an MP3 player - hard-drive type - enough space to hold our music on hold CD's, with creating a separate playlist for holiday music.

Any thoughts? Pros? Cons? Ideas?

We are on Multivantage Comm Mgr V. 1.3

Thanks for your input.

My suggestion would to be one of two things. Get a cheap MP3 player, or if you have a server close to the switch, load Winamp, or another small program which plays MP3's and run straight out of the audio of the PC. the advantage of this is direct control of hte music to change whenever you want.

I use one of these. It's an MP3 player as well.

This plus some on hold music that I got from this company,

The music is royalty free, so I have no monthly expenses for music on hold.

The device has no moving parts (unlike a server with a hard drive) and doesn't even need time to load music, as it's all stored on a flash card similar to the one you would use in a digital camera.

I got two memory cards, so I can change the message/hold announcements played with the music on a PC, and then just swap cards.

The device also comes with very easy to use software and some of it's own royalty free tracks to create your own message/music on hold files.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

We have ours running Winamp on a old computer with the music and playlist running from a network folder. Whenever we make changes, we overwrite the playlist and add the music from anywhere on the network....then I set up a vdn to listen to moh.

vdn (non did) vector looks like this
