What do you think of PowerCenter's interface?

I gotta know, am I the only one that hates how they implemented it? Lack of normal Windows cues, too mouse intensive, too small of places to click in, still buggy after three versions, improvements that make it harder to do things in newer versions, things that just don't work properly...

I could go on. Please give me your feedback. Is it worth imparting this information to the development group or do they just do their own thing?

Which version are you talking about?
The powercenter interface has become increasingly 'fiddly' from the early 4 versions onwards. I thought version 7 was noticably harder to work with then with the clean 6 version.
But perhaps version 8 is even more accident-prone?

We started with 6.2, went to 7.1 and now are using 8.1.1. While it's very powerful, I'm in total anguish both physically (mouse hand hurts from so many small movements required - the mouse is just not designed for that or I'm showing my age :) and mentally when I've used it all day long. At least they finally got the sorting ascending - but that's not saying much. I thought they had a good QA program, or was that just to make the sale?!!!

Personally I have always regarded INFA as a superior product in terms of the quality of the product. Very few bugs and then only minor annoyances.
I have never worked with the 8 version, but it would be sad indeed to see it going downhill..

It can do a lot, but it's a lot quirkier than I would like. I like my software not to get in my way and it's getting harder with just about all the products I use to have a good experience. It's always a good feeling when I use the deployment option to move a map to production and it totally screws it up... NOT!

hey artie, i agree with the use of too much mouse usage, but we have some ways to use the keyboard too. its the way u adapt, to things,

But i feel of the warehousing tools available, Informatica is one tool which is a fun to work with and a powerful one too.

And i dont know about ver.8 as i have not worked with it
