Bios updates don't give you something you never had.

PCMCIA card seems the best option for USB2

Network PC Card??? is a completely differant thing!

What are you trying to do.

True to a point, I've found some machines with only usb1.1 simply required a bios update to allow usb2. I would imagine that the facility was in-built in those cases and never activated.

If there is a potential to save money it's worth a look.

Just had a thought is the reason you want usb2 for an adsl/cable modem/router? Just cos the spec for that laptop states that it has on board lan connection which you could use instead.

well my computer was build in 2001 and it said on internet (or the extern hd manual) that all computer build after 2003 has usb 2.0 build in so i don't think i have one (check bios don't other places) therefore in order to have usb 2.0 capabillity i just have to have pcmcia card-usb 2.0 (2 ports) as in the link given by NotSoCunning (sorry cant copy, paste)?

Because USB2 is up to 40X faster than USB1.1 demanding periferals (those that transfer lots of data) like external DVDwriters and Hard drives are dramatically slowed down on the older USB1.1 bus.

It definately will pay dividends to invest in a PCMCIA USB2 addon cardbus otherwise external hard drive performance will be severly retricted.
