Hi!

Does anyone know what are the major differences between Veritas Backup Exec and Vertias Storage replicator?

If I want to perform Backup & Recovery for my database which solution should I choose? and why?

They do two different things.

Backup Exec is for 'backing up' your data to a hard drive or tape. To use the data, you need to restore it from the backup.

This is my understanding of the product from reading about it (never used it)...
Storage Replicator, 'replicates' your data storage. In other words, it creates a MIRROR of your data. You have machine A with your production data. You use Storage Replicator to 'replicate' that data to machine B. The end result is similar to a Standby Server.
