Hi all.
I've been looking at the sample file included in flash 5 which allows you to create a menu structure activated on mouse over. The menu item buttons are set to 'track as menu item' and the file explains that it is set so that "it's over state displays as long as the mouse rolls over it" But it does that anyway, even if it's tracked as a button. I can't see any difference. What is the purpose of this option? To see what I mean, choose Help...Samples...Track as menu.
Thanks.

Andy.

A few lines that may somewhat clear this up:

Track as menu item is used when you're dealing with pop-up menus... For the purpose that the buttons under the menu would act/function/be active upon mouse rollover.

Creating a pop-up menu in Flash requires two crucial steps which include turning on the Track As Menu Item option in the Properties dialog box for all buttons in the pop-up menu. As a result, all other buttons in the menu can receive the mouse release events.

Basically so if your over state pops up a menu, but the menu is outside the button...it keeps the over function active so you dont screw anything up?...sorry if I'm a little bla...I'm very tired at the moment. Regards,
