i followed a guide to configure you ftp and it said to add a usergroup call FTPgroup. I added the group with the syntax groupadd FTPgroup.

Now i cant find the group. it wasn't in a home directory. I tried to use the find command put couldn't find it.

where else would Linux put groups at ?

solved my own problem. the groups are read from a file called /etc/groups and not a directory from what i read up on.

If i'm wrong about anything please let me know
