When we installed Crystal Enterprise 9 a few years back, the MSDE database was part of the installation disk and I used it for the system CE90 database. I was wondering if that same database is on the Business Objects XI Release 2 installation CD. The reason I ask is that I am wondering if I will have to purchase either SQL2000 or SQL2005 for our XI server system database?

I have also had some frequent problems with the MSDE database that ultimately affects my CrystalAPS. We have had a lot of exception errors and I have had a hard time deciphering what is causing the exception errors. Any help would be appreciated.

MySQL is now the default database that will get installed.
If you want to use SQL Server, you will have to purchase it seperately.

Thanks for the info. What is your take on MySQL? Is it sufficient for the system database? DO you know if most people purchase SQLServer separately? I am going to post that question as a separate post.

Thanks again,
