I am studying for the exam and one of the many products that I was using is transcender. What I was wondering is what is the emphasis on commands? Transcender had a question where "show ipx server" is the answer. I searched in the Cisco book and Sybex and neither had this command which made me think how much time am I wasting on commands that will not be on the test?

Wouldn't bother with IPX its not even covered in CCNA. I would do stuff like:

Basic password config
Configuring Interfaces with IP addresses, CLock rate etc
Access-lists
And protocol stuff like RIP,EIGRP and OSPF

I would agree, definatley hammer the access lists!

Don't forget about switches either, VLANs & VTP are a big chunk of CCNA3!

gsplsngr,

The CCNA exam looks at a lot of "show" commands, several people have said that they had sample output and were asked what command this is or asked what command to see certian things.

CCNA is a lot about trouble shooting - best way to trouble shoot is to check "show" commands to see what is going on with the router or switch.

Most sims talked about in the posts here over the last few months have been basic switch setup, OSPF setup and a 3 line ACL.

I hope this helps!!
