Hi Folks,

We're using Nortel Opt11C w/ a single PRI through Verizon for inbound/outbound. We have a separate circuit for Internet. Verizon's local & local toll rates are high, but I've been wary to change providers since Verizon services the PBX as well. Also, the PRI is transported out of a non-local CO so that we could keep our old numbers from that CO. Verizon couldn't port those numbers over to the new CO at the time. I don't think they can now either. Any advice on carriers (MCI, Sprint, MPower, etc), combining PRI/Internet, and/or backup redundancy for a PRI circuit that HAS gone down a few times? Oh, my recent pain with this has been trying to re-PICC this PRI over to MCI for interstate & local toll. It hasn't switched, and MCI and Verizon both claim the other is at fault. Any help appreciated.

You may want to check out XO... Use them for Internet and PRI, they aren't perfect, but aren't a nightmare either. Very competitive rates...

A agree that XO seems to have their act together, at least they did a few years ago in OH.

BTW, it isn't that they *can't* port the numbers, it that they *won't*.

You can bet that if you port these over to a CLEC that Verizon reps will be calling you monthly with special "win back" deals and those number would be served from your local CO.

Typical behavoir of a company that just does not get the fact that they no longer have a monopoly. They just don't get it.

BTW, if your T1 goes down each and every time report it to your Public Utilities Commission. Generally this can be done online so it is easier than ever. The reliability problem may or may not be due to the fact it is an FX'ed line.

Good luck

Also try Paetec

In the future everything will work...

Thank you, guys for your posts. Will check out XO. Telco vendors have given me the most frustration of any others, it seems.

Reselling is not the best for anyone. Go with the ILEC and you trouble are mostly gone. All Telco's are dieing with VOIP and Wi-FI Voice. You have to go in with everyone knowing that if you are using a CLEC don't expert great service. I know that ILECs are bad too but I am with a company that grows and changes a lot. The CLECs (we have tryied a few) called us up and stated that are not going to support us anymore because they are closing our region.
All Telcos are cut back in some ways and it is only getting worst. You can get out there without service or support

and every time report it to your Public Utilities Commission

carve that in stone. never settle for less then perfect. if the tech on site doesn't do his job, call his supervisor, and keep going up the line.. keep a journel, write down every "fact" they tell you. once they find out that you will get everything you pay for, your job will get a lot eaiser.. clec may be the best way to go, if they stay open, if they still give you great service a year later. if they don't go up 60 percent..etc etc etc.. 10 percent of our cust say we are the best telco in the game, 10 per cent say we are the worst... reason ? the man that shows up when you have a problem.. almost everything else is a constant...
