We currently have AIX 4.3.2 installed and one ASCII terminal attached as our console. The following messages are always coming out, almost every three seconds:

***********************************
Resuming Desktop Login......
***********************************

***********************************
Suspending Desktop Login...
Press [Enter] key for a login prompt.
Log in. Desktop Login will resume shortly after you log out.
***********************************

I think the system is treating this terminal as a graphic display.
How could I throw these up? There must be some settings for CDE environment.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, at smit system you can set your "default user environment". Set it to command line login to set AIX to not to load CDE by default.

I hope it works...

Thanks ElgisRamon.
But I don't want to change the interface to "command line" as we still need to have dt running. We can not use Exceed CDE session to log on if setting interface to command line.

Any other ideas?

look in your /etc/inittab file and see how your systems is started up regarding console hope that helps you in some way

You have to stop the dtsrc daemon by tape this commande :
stopsrc -s dtsrc

I have the same problem. We need to allow an LFT console run command line or CDE and have Exceed provide CDE capability PC's connected via serial cable.

We have tried the two suggestions above and they are not the answer. If you are able to solve this problem, please let me know. I will do the same.

Thanks
Doug Tyre

<a href= Information Systems Institute (at UM)
