What autostarts DB2 8.1 in Linux

I've been happily running DB2 8.1 (currently FP6) on RHEL for almost a year now. When the server reboots DB2 automatically starts (I requested this at DB2 installation time).

However, it occurs to me that I don't know how this actually happens, i.e. where is the command issued to start DB2 at server boot time. It isn't in /etc/inittab (the fault monitor coordinator is in there - db2fmcd), it isn't a service in /etc/init.d (its certainly not an inet or xinet service!) and it's not run via cron at boot time. I don't know where else it could run from.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I can answer my own question now that I've chance to play with the database server when no-one was using it.

The DB2 instance is started by the fault monitor coordinator, the db2fmcd command in /etc/inittab. I guess this looks at the AUTOSTART DB2 parameter, sees that DB2 should be started and starts it up.

It seems that this is a version 8.1 feature.

I hope this is valid for AIX as well - I've been fighting a DB2 install that will NOT autostart when the box is rebooted. I don't know if the Linux version is similar to the AIX version, but I'm crossing my fingers.

quick question - where did you find the "AUTOSTART DB2 parameter"? I need to know if that is set for my install or not.
