What are these Mpc daemon processes?

Does anyone know what these processes are? I had one hogging CPU cycles the other day but, not knowing what they were, I didn't feel comfortable killing it.

Do you have load leveler running?

check in /etc/rc.d/ to see if anything gets started

I wouldn't know if I had it running or not! What is "load leveler"? I looked through the /etc/rc files but nothing jumped out at me.
