What are the steps to upgrade Informatica (PC) v6.1 repository?

Problem Statement: What are the steps to upgrade Informatica Power Center (PC) v6.1 repository to Power Center v7.1.2 repository?

Description: We wish to evaluate upgrade issues that will arise when we migrate to v7.1.2 from v6.1 before we migrate our environments. We want to migrate a PC v6.1 development environment to v7.1.2, and allow work to continue on the v6.1 development environment while we perform our testing and evaluation. In our environment, PC v6.1 and PC v7.1.2 both have been installed on 2 different Oracle schemas, and different file systems. The PC6.1 is installed on unix system on Port number 5001 and PC7.1.2 on Unix system on port nr 5005.

How do we bring a copy the V6.1 repository over to V7.1.2 to be migrated? It appears that the process wants us to take the leap of faith and migrate the V6.1 repository without a way to keep V6.1 until we're ready.

Any inputs in this regard will be helpful

Just make a copy of the repository database and use that to upgrade in-place. DO NOT upgrade your live 6.1 repo - there is no way back!

I don't know how it works on unix, but you probably need a separate server for the upgrade testing. I know that the 6.1 client gets scorched by the 7.1 install.
