Using Voice Announcement Manager: how do I swap a new annoucement for an old? I have had to re-record 4 announcements because the original ones were (fill in the blank). I tried to swap one of them and only succeeded in deleting the old one. I ended up using the old talk into the phone method (with console permissions) to put it back. Now I've got the wrong voice doing that announcement. It's working, but....

From your Windows workstation.
The installed path…
Where <….> is user account name in Windows.
There are FOLDERS located in the path below where you have NAMED the folders in Voice System Name.
XP… C:\Documents and Settings\<….>\Application Data\Avaya\Voice Announcement Manager\user
W7… C:\Users\<….>\AppData\Roaming\Avaya\Voice Announcement Manager\user

In VAM, these are arranged as Audio Source & Audio Groups.
Audio Source is where the recordings are stored by location of the announcement hardware. For example, Media Gateway X, it would be 00Xv9 for G[2,3,4]XX, G700 and in TN based systems, it would be the Module/SLOT location.
Audio Groups is where the AUDIO Groups you have setup on your CM.

There you will find your WAV file.
If you don't see it, you must then right click on the Voice System Name and do a BACKUP.
BTW, the COPY/DELETE is also there... in the right click. Take note, this is how you will copy it back down to the VAL.

** NOTE **
REPLACE that WAV file with one that you have recorded using your PC audio tool. YOU MUST REPLACE THE WAV FILE WITH EXACTLY THE SAME NAME, OTHERWISE YOU WILL LEAVE A LOT OF ORPHANED WAV FILES ON YOUR VAL BOARD. Cleaing it up is a different discussion.

I use an editing tool called AUDACITY. And you will need to get it down these formats... otherwise, CM will reject it.
The format for recordings is WAV files…
• 8kHz 8-bit mono mu-law (PCM) or
• 8kHz 8-bit mono A-law (PCM) format
For US.. it must be recorded in MU-LAW.
BEWARE.. Windows DO NOT CARE about mu-law not A-law. It plays them all, but CM is very particular about it.

Once you have replace that WAV file, you can COPY it back into the VAL board using the VAM tool. Sorry, don't know how to do screen shots, so I cannot show it here.
