What are the restrictions on subject line for token to work

I have CRM 3.0 with update rollup 2. If I send a quick camppaign with subject "test 10" it goes through and sends the email with token. If I send another with "Launched a new website" it sends the email without a token (the body of the email is identical.

I have checked the history of campaigns and do see one "The blah blah blah blah!" and has tokens after it.

This seems to be a rollup 2 issue.
