So among the many drivers out there available for Nvidia cards whats the best all around as far as quality and performance?

What is ment by best.

-Best image quality
-Best for speed FPS

The different drivers comes down to this.

The GoatyMan,
Which drivers work best depends on which card you are using.
A new FX5700 Ultra will probably work best with one of the lastest FX Detonators, the 53.03's or 52.16's, where as an older Geforce 2 GTS would probably run better with something earlier like the 30.82's.
It's a matter of optimisation and new drivers are optimised for newer graphics processors.
In pure benchmark terms Geforce 4 Ti's hit the wall at 44.03's , that is to say later Detonators actually attain lower benchmark scores (my opinion based on my own basic trials)
It is common fact that older Via motherboard chipsets benefit greatly by using driver releases equal thereabouts to when they were manufactured, the use of the latest Hyperion 4in1's on a 4 year old KT133 chipset can yield a dramatic drop in mainboard performance.
The same can be applied to GPU's, there is usually an optimal driver for each GPU series generally the 4th-6th version after the GPU is introduced.

to be fair, the difference is negligable most of the time. If you're playing games, you probably won't notice a visible difference in performance or graphics quality from one driver set to another. It's mainly in benchmarks that the differences become apparent, and with all the cheating from Nvidia and ATI recently, benchmarks are rapidly losing their credibility. I'm using the 53.03 drivers and they are fine on my GF3 TI500, which is now a fairly old card.
