What are DSR/DCX & DCA files and how to load them?

I have Recently downloaded some sample applications for Crystal report form their product site. For some reason, I can not load any of the projects onto VB. All projects includes dcx, dsr & DCA files which I haven't use before.

Can anyone let me know how to view these projects in VB6 please?

I have Crystal reports V8 installed on my machine.

These three files are associated with VB Data Environment. This should be installed with VB6 - I cant remember if its installed by default or a custom option. Open a new project and look under Project/References is 'Microsoft Data Environment Instance 1.0' listed - if not then reinstall VB6 and ensure Data Environment Designer is installed. Also ensure Sp5 is installed.

Thanks for your response. I have included DE Instance 1.0 through references as instructed but still can not load the file - Is there anything else need to be installed?

I think you need to add it through the Designers Tab in the Components dialog. Make sure DataEnvironment and DataReport are checked. If they are not in the list then they are not installed properly.

I am facing a similar problem. I installed VB6 on a new machine and though I can create new DSR reports on it. I am unable to open DSR files created on the previous machine. It seems part of the problem is that the CLSID of the registered files has changed. Here is an example of a new DSR file..

Begin {78E93846-85FD-11D0-8487-00A0C90DC8A9} crMain

The CLSID is different than what the files created on older had. Anyone else face this issue?
