I can't find out how this "star thing" works, but like to give some to those that are helpful.
Hint please!!

Under each of the questions and answers there is a little sign that says "Mark this post as a helpful/expert post!" Just click on that and you will give them a star
Happy to help
Cheers Paul

p.s. Clicking the "Mark this post as helpful" used to automatically give a star. Now it has changed to display a pop-up asking "Are you sure you want to give a star?". Just click again to give a star.

In other words, you now have to click twice to actually award a star. This tripped me up a few times after they made the change. I was clicking the message and automatically closing the pop-up without reading it. Maq [americanflag]

is this the only way to get stars awarded?
i notice that some people have stars next to their names... does that star (once awarded) always follow that user whenever he makes a post? or only on the specific threads that he/she has been awared the star? Earnie Eng
If you are born once, you will die twice.
If you are born twice, you will die once

The star stays by your name for the entire thread, but it doesn't move to other threads. If you see a star by a person's name then they were given a star for a post in that specific thread.
