As you may see from the previous post of mine I am having trouble setting up a VPN with Windows XP. I have just got a copy of PC Plus through the door and what do you know, One of the free cd's on the cover is a Secure Planet Virtual Private Network package. (single user only though) I was just wondering, is it worth buying any of this software or, with a little experience, can windows XP do all the same things. This still will not solve my problem, how to view the host through the router.

Cheers

Third party clients are generally more of a pain than they are worth. The Microsoft client will handle most needs. Support for third party clients is diluted, from the manufacturer/vendor as well as public information such as the internet.

There are some exceptions, but unless you really run into something that you have to have that you can't do with the MS client, I would skip the others.
