Well Here goes.
I tried to make the ADO datacontrol use the "LIKE" statement in SQL I wrote. But I guess it does not LIKE it.
So I swithced to a Plain old data control and of course the DataGrid would not work with it so I switched to the MSFlexgrid. Now It likes the SQL "Like" but it does not have the little column width arrows to make the columns wider like the DataGrid has. Plus it does not work with Access 2000 .MDB, just '97.
What a mess. So instead of re-creating an Access database Find program in VB that I could distribute Without them having to buy Access. I have Nothing at all in VB6 but a days wasted time.
Give me Access anyday.
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

...just my 2 cents...The Data Control is nice for quick-n-dirty slap-it-together stuff, but I often use the Sheridan Grid in Unbound mode and, yes there's more coding, but I have 100% control of what's happening-- no quirks, no problems--the columns resize, sort, etc. all the user-friendly stuff. My latest thing (right up your alley-- a barcoding system conrolling the 5 conveyor lines with 5 zebras at a big distribution center) however, *does* use the Data control, but it's the Sheridan Grid--maybe that's worth a look, I've had few problems with it (grid ver 3.11).
--Jim

Yeah spend more money.
VB6 is not cheap either and the stupid Grid it should work right after 6 versions.
I used to work right in the last version (VB5)
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.
