I have Cisco 2620XM and 2651 routers. The 2620XM is currently my intenet router and I have 3 T1 lines coming in and bonded using MLPPP. I am considering the addition of a 4th T1 and I am curious about the compatibility of a spare WIC 1DSU T1 v2 card I have. My other WIC cards are not v2 and I have been attempting to read up on the difference. My reading mentions support on the v2 card for something called a WET T1 - What is a WET T1 and how do I tell if I will have one or not?

Since I am considering the addition of a 4th T1 line I thought I might upgrade to this 2651 I have setting onthe shelf. Is this spare v2 card I have compatible with both my 2620XM and 2651 routers? Can I mix v2 and non-v2 cards on the same router and will that require something in the the config to address that?

Basically a WET T1 carries a small electrical current (I say small... it can still give quite a shock!) to power the DSU. A Dry T1 has no such current and thus the DSU must be powered at the customer site. Your telecoms provider will confirm if you have a WET T1 .. you could of course just touch the T1 cable.. you'll find out pretty quickly if it's WET :)

The 2620XM and 2651 will support that WIC and yes I believe you can mix both a V1 and V2 WIC card. The config should be the same. Maybe the following URL will help:
