when ever i try to install the drivers for my raptor SATA drive when putting on os XP on my ASUS board P4C800 Deluxe.I get this error message. 'file txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (1024) at line 1742 in d:\xpsp1\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c'. Can you HELP please I've tried everthing.

Do you mean you're trying to install XP on the SATA drive (press F6 during install), or is XP installed on IDE drive, and you're trying to install SATA drivers in XP?

What is d:\xpsp1\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c'? (is d: CD/DVD drive? Is this a standard XP install CD? Do you have other (IDE) drives connected to the machine?

D is the cd rom that the Xp install CD is in. No there no other IDE attach to the pc. I finally got past the error message, now when I'm ready to install the OS it wont pick up the SATA drives. When I set the settings in the bios for the sata to IDE mode it sees the drives, but when I set it to RAID, and go through the same process of putting on the XP it doesn't see the SATA drives. Do u know why.

killarampage2 - presume you are maddoj? (some reason for changing handles mid-thread).

If you've only one drive, you can't expect RAID to work.

What exactly are you trying to do?

sorry for the confusion, maddoj posted the message for me (killarampage2) because my internet wasn't working. I setup 2 Western Digital SATA Raptor drives in RAID0(Stripe). now when I try to install XP I press F6 I load the XP RAIDATA drives from the floppy, it goes through the motion off extracting the files, but when it comes to the part where u choose the partitians to put XP on it says XP cannot continue because no physical drives available. It doesn't see the drives for some reason. But when I setup the drives in IDE mode it sees them why is that.

RAID is not an area of expertise for me! You've set up RAID0 config in the bios? Then XP install can't see the RAID volume even supplying SATA drivers? According to the MB manual, fdisk should be able to create partition after bios setup (though I wonder if it means for IDE disks! - and nothing in FAQ for your board). You could boot from win98 boot floppy & see if fdisk can see the RAID volume?

btw - how large are these disks and is your XP install SP1 or earlier (because pre-SP1, XP has a problem with disks > 128GB)?

These are the 36g raptor 10,000rpm drives. I tried both XP installation (one with sp1 and one without)still cant see the drives. I tried fdisk feature with my win 98 setup disk and it too doesn't see the drives when there in Raid. I've look everwhere on line and posted this problem, still no luck. I just want to get the full performance, imagine these two 10,000 rpm drive in raid stripe thats 20,000rpm pushing your pc, but I cant get it to work. HELP HELP HELP HELP....!!!

If the bios setup is correct use a win98 bootdisk to boot up. Run fdisk for the Sata array, then format the drives normally, it will look like one large drive. Then boot up with your CD installation, hit F6 at the first screen. Later on XP will ask you if you want extra drivers installed. Hit the S key and insert your floppy. Leave the floppy in the drive as xp needs it again later. Then install normally. This should work ok. If not please advise and we will try a different approach. Regards
