Western Digital doesn't stay in udma 100 with DFI AD70sc motherboard

Hello; i have a DFI AD70sc mother board and a Western Digital 40BB hard drive; the problem is that nomatter what drivers I've installed and bios updates I've done, any Western Digital drives that I've mount refuse to stay in udma 100 seting; things that i've done so far : latest bios updates from DFI, latest drivers from VIA, installed Win2k, WinXP, even tryed that tool from Via, for setting the ide devices transfer mode (it show that it will set the drive to udma 100 after restart, but is does not); the hdd works just fine, my BIOS shows that is a udma 100, (and works at udma 100, but not in my mobo); also, i've tryed a Seagate and a Maxtor, and the transfer settings were set automatically to udma 5, not 2 like with Western; Does anybody seen that before ? Or any ideas or solution ?

You are confusing two different terms here. ATA 100 (or ATA 66 or ATA 133), is the native speed type of the harddrive. UDMA 5 is the speed of the computer driver for the harddrive (this is the top speed any computer allows). What the software is for, is to make the computer recognize the newer, faster harddrive on old motherboards that were limited to ATA 33 standards.

Never the less, those two terms are having the same meanning nowadays; the problem remains the same, named udma100, udma 5 or UAta 100; my hdd refuse to be set at the transfer speed that he and the mobo "knows" (and i'm sure that the mobo is capable of udma 100, 'couse, as i've said, i've tried two different hdd)
