I just acquired a Westell 2100 Wirespeed modem, to replace a Speedstream 4060 USB modem. I wanted to go ethernet, so that I can use a wireless access point without going through a machine.
Anyway, I have the Westell connected to the ethernet port of my machine (Windows XP Home). The modem appears to be connected - the three lights (power, line, ethernet) are all on. However, I cannot address the modem via the browser. Bellsouth says to use but this does not work. I think that the modem was originally used with Verizon service (I obtained it via eBay).
Any ideas on how I can get it to work?

I have a Westell 2100 from Bellsouth. I had problems with Remote Desktop Connection and fixed it by using the IP Pass thru. My question is though, I had DirecTV and was able to VPN to my network. I cannot seem to get the VPN to connect. I am using a LinkSys Switch, same setup as before. Any thought? Thanks.
