We're having a strange disconnection issue with our Citrix server. Running XPa w/ nFuse 1.6 and Win2K. Clients connect via the Internet to published applications.

If a user opens an Excel spreadsheet for example, after about 5 minutes of no activity, the session seems to disconnect. Once the client tries to click on the spreadsheet, 30 seconds will pass and a message box pops up saying there's a problem with the network connection and in another 30 seconds, they will be logged back in. They are then logged back in and resume the same session they were disconnected from without losing any data.

However, if the user is in Word, where there's screen activity via the blinking cursor, this does not happen after 5 minutes.

I've set the session timeout variables to 60 minutes, and I also checked the settings in Connection Manager, but could find nothing showing a 5 minute timeout. Thanks.

Check with your ISP for any wierd timeout settings they may use - this is a fairly common cause of internet Citrix session disconnects.

I hope this helps

Check wether you clients are connected via ISDN. If that is the case you might need to set som ICA connection somewhat tighter.

A solution or ideas for a solution can be found in citrix knowledgebase.

Good Luck!
