WEP Basics

I have a PC and an IMac ( 10.0.3) sharing folders, internet together and I wish to secure the network.

On the Mac under Sharing > Internet > Airport options, I typed in a 5 character password for the 40 bit encryption and proceeded to type that into my PC when asked. However the PC didn't like the key and I can't access the internet on my PC.
