I have had an Ascentia A Series (A41) laptop for about 3 years. All this time I've been trying to solve one problem, SOUND!
I can play CD's on my laptop and even listen to MIDI music. However, I cannot get any other sound out of it! (MP3, WAV, etc)

The drivers appear to be loaded correctly(I have tried about 4 or 5 different driver files, NO LUCK!)

The sound card in the computer is a Crystal CS4237 from Cirrus.

Does anyone have any idea why I cannot hear WAV or MP3 files?
If this is not the place to ask, can someone suggest a different one?

Thanks in advance.

MrMMMm,
If you right click on the little yellow speaker in your system tray, and then select OPEN VOLUME CONTROLS, you get a row ov sliders. Make sure the WAVE slider is at or near the top, and that the mute box below it is not checked.

Could be that
