This is going to be hard to explain. My start menu and task bar is double high and I cannot shrink it back to "icon" height without making it dissappear. The start menu and icons are are thr correct size and take up only half of the space within the bar. The bar is twice as high as the size of the icons. Does this make sense? I Can't find a setting anywhere to reduce the height. Can you help? I can take a screenshot if you wish to see it. Thanks!!
Steve

Unless something terribly strange is going on with your system, just grab the top of the task bar (cursor should turn into up-and-down arrow) and drag it back to normal height. Likewise, you can increase the size of the task bar the same way... you or another user may have done this accidentally.

Rocmills, No, I tried that. See it seems like it is the default size/height now. When I drag it down to resize it, it goes away and you see only the top line. Like you are "hiding" the taskbar. You know?

Thanks carrr, that seems to be the same characteristics as me. I will try those things and let you know.

From another forum.

This works for me and I hope I can explain it properly.

As already suggested, unlock the task bar. I assume your quick launch bar is located on top of the "open program" icons location on the taskbar. You should see a row of "vertical dots" to the left of each row of icons.

Now look for the "vertical dots - 4 dots & 3 dots" to the left of the "open program" icons. Should be the bottom row. Left click your mouse on the dots and drag them to the right of the quick launch icons.

This should get you back to a single row task bar."

I did everything explained to me here. Nothing. I don't know what exactly I did. I moved the bar to the left. Played with the left and right lines to make the quick launch bigger and smaller. I had some programs opened and by moving the quicklaunch bar, it forced the open program icons to the other side of the taskbar and somehow looked better. I dragges it back to the bottom and whala, it was ok! I don't know a little tiral and error works sometimes!
Thanks all fro the help!
